Nathan’s mom contacted us a month ago for Power Rangers birthday cake. Nathan who is 4-years-old now loves blue Power Ranger so we had to come out with a new cake design with Blue Rangers as the focal point. Both of us are female and to design a boy’s cake was not an easy job.
It was sunset in fall season; the orange sky that was gradually changed color to blue was so beautiful that gave us an inspiration to bake a “Sunset in downtown with Power Rangers” cake. The cakes would be two tiers with different colors: orange and blue. Nathan, Blue Power Ranger popped up from the sky as a surprise and the stars would shine bright to celebrate the party. The shadows of tall buildings in downtown with lights came out from buildings would highlight that it was sunset. Red and black power rangers also appeared on the cake for Nathan’s older and younger brothers. Once again, we put our idea on the paper and showed it to mom. Mom loved the design.
The cake was two tiers: a 9 inches round cake with three flavors: strawberry, grape, and chocolate and a personal cake with three layers: grape, chocolate, and grape. Strawberry cream cheese was our selection for the filling. The cupcakes were also had three different flavors: strawberry, grape, and chocolate with power rangers’ heads, nathan’s first initial, and stars as the toppers.
We spent a couple hours just to make one power ranger using sugar paste because the details really made a difference. Everything was edible except the wire for the stars and the candles.

This cake was planned one month ahead between Diving Wedding and the Rahardjos. Mom likes Barbie and anticipated us to come with an original idea about Barbie cake. We brainstormed about different themes and came to a decision on the hip Barbie ballerina. Mom approved and loved the idea. We put our idea on the paper.
The cakes wrapped with fondant masqueraded as tutu’s layers of fabrics with a touch of edible satin ribbon on the edge. To flash the main ballerina, we just could not resist to use the silver metallic fondant. There were 3 layers of cakes: strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. The fillings were strawberry cream cheese and chocolate ganache.
The main ballerina on the stage was Alicia, the birthday girl. Two small ballerinas on two sides, left and right, made a welcome movement with their arms to present Alicia to the audience.
To give a face-lift, we added cupcakes with ballerina’s accessories – such as tutu, leotard, leggings, ballet shoes, bags, and etc.
The stage was built using foam boards by dad who is an architect. We wrapped the stage with pink fondant to correspond to our whole design. Disco balls, spot light, and the glitter came from shiny fondant really made this a chic and fun cake for the one-year-old Alicia.

It is common for kids to change their minds frequently. Nanda requested a Mario Bros theme cake and yet he decided that Pikachu from Pokemon was much cooler later on. Since it was his birthday, incorporate two main characters from different movies into one cake was the best solution for him. After seeing the cake’s final result, he actually preferred the Mario to Pikachu.
Mario was pushing a giant rubik’s cube made from three layers of cakes — vanilla, chocolate, and vanilla — so Pikachu would fall down. However, Mario did not realize that Toad, his friend, was also on the top of the cube. All the characters, the games scattered around on the ground, and the rubik’s cube were edible. It was a fun experience to sculpt the sugar paste and create the characters.

Our recent sophisticated bride opted for a simple yet elegant look. Therefore we decided to use a single type of flower: cymbidium orchid, the bride’s all time favorite. We then added crystal embellishment in between the blooms and a touch of lace on the handle to match the bride’s dress. Finally, we finished it with a rhinestone brooch.
She looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous ball gown completed with this timeless bouquet.

Pomander is a small, compact bloom-covered ball which is very popular for a pew decoration. A couple giant pomanders on the altar along with lovely little pomanders for the pews give this ceremony site a modern yet sophisticated look.

“Awesome!” said a kindergarten boy out loud who turned to 6 years old on September 19. Nanda could not wait to share his Mario Bros chocolate cupcakes with his friends at school. This morning, mom had a privilege to drop him and cupcakes off at school. Twenty five cupcakes put together told a story of Mario and his friends at a park on one fine day.

Six pregnant moms gave us the inspiration for the design of this baby shower cake that focused on the babies. We used soft pastel color for the fondant.
Two moms are going to have baby girls, four moms are going to have baby boys and the last baby is too early to figure out the gender.
The babies were so cute and we put a lot of effort by including all the details — such as wrinkles on babies’ skins.
The marble cake for the top layer and green tea cake for the bottom layer became our choices for the flavors.
This was so far the best cake that Divine Wedding had made and we were proud of it.

Summer in Columbus is different from past years. It rains almost everyday and it is hardly 90 F. Some flowers in our garden do not bloom this year due to the weather. Divine Wedding’s summer cupcakes reflect summer in Columbus. They were chocolate chips cupcakes topped with a thin layer of fondant — bright yellow sun color for the background, light brown for the branch, and soft green for the leaf.
